Brokeback Mountain rides home victorious
It was a good evening to be gay in Hollywood as cowboy drama Brokeback Mountain scooped top honours at the Golden Globe awards in Los Angeles, last night.
The highly tipped movie won best film, best screenplay, best original song and best director for Ang Lee. However, lead actor Heath Ledger lost out on the best dramatic actor award to Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote.
Felicity Huffman, of Desperate Housewives fame, won best dramatic film actress for her role as a transgender mum in Transamerica.
Huffman said she saluted “the men and women who brave ostracism, alienation and a life lived on the margins to become who they really are.”
The Globes are seen as an indicator to the Academy Awards, which are being held on 5 March.
