Gay sex attacker convicted
A gay sex attacker who kidnapped, drugged, abused and robbed his victims has been convicted in Scotland.
The High Court in Glasgow found former DIY store worker, Cyrus Winton, 26, guilty of three attacks and three thefts.
The court was told that he kept “trophies” such as wallets and clothes from his victims in the £300,000 house he shares with his parents. Winton abducted straight men and performed sex acts on them in remote spots just two miles from his home.
Police said he drugged his victims to stop them remembering the acts. But one remembered enough to take police to the scene of his attack. It is believed there may be more victims who too embarrassed to come forward.
His first attack happened in November 2004, when he conned his victim into his silver Vauxhall Corsa, performed sex acts on him, before throwing him out and stealing his wallet.
A few weeks later he conducted a similar attack in the same area. Eight days after the attack he posed as a taxi driver and picked up another victim. However, on this occasion his target remembered the attack and informed the police. The description of his car led the police to Winton.
Police identified other victims from stolen items. One source said: “If we hadn’t found that stolen stuff, we would have been in the dark about the others. “There are fears that he has carried out other sex attacks.”
He will be sentenced next month.
