Gay star in drugs arrest
Gay superstar George Michael has been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs after a member of the public found him collapsed at the wheel of a car.
The singer, 42, was taken into custody at Hyde Park Corner early on Sunday morning initially on suspicion of being in no fit state to drive. After a doctor’s examination this offence was not followed up.
Officers allegedly seized substances suspected to be cannabis and GHB, a popular clubbing drug, according to the Sun.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed a 42-year-old man had been arrested.
“A search of the man revealed what was believed to be controlled substances, he has been released on bail to return to a central London police station on a date in late March pending analysis of the substances recovered.”
The artist was arrested in 1998 for lewd conduct after being spotted by an undercover police officer in a Los Angeles public toilet.
