Brokeback Mountain scores best director award at Oscars
Despite being nominated for eight Oscars including best actor for Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain scored only three awards at the Oscars ceremony held in Hollywood yesterday.
The film which has wowed audiences across Britain has scored some high profile fans including the Conservative leader, David Cameron.
It scored nominations for Jake Gyllenhaal, best supporting actor, Heath Ledger, best actor and Ang Lee as best director. Michelle Williams was nominated for best supporting actress. The film was also nominated for the prestigious best picture gong together with nominations for best adapted screenplay, best cinematography and best original score.
The BBC said that Heath Ledger was so annoyed at missing out on an award that he ignored reporters on the way to the after show party.
