Group to hear views of gay cancer sufferers
Cancer patients from the gay community are to be consulted about how services could be made better for them.
The Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire Cancer Services network is launching a project to improve their understanding of the needs of cancer sufferers from the gay, lesbian, and transgendered communities.
Michail Sanidas, a spokesman for the network told the BBC, “The project will look at issues such as next-of-kin.”
“Some may not feel comfortable to come out as gay or lesbian to their GP or hospital doctor.”
“By listening to the groups the network aims to improve the services it offers, I hope this project will give us some guidance on how to address better the needs of these communities.”
