George Michael tickets sell out in “two hours”
Tickets for gay star George Michael’s first tour in 15 years sold out in two hours this morning.
Around 200,000 tickets went on sale from 10 am and were all gone by lunch time, prompting a new set of dates to be added.
A spokeswoman for Ticketmaster said she was not surprised, “It is not surprising that the tickets sold so well as, after all, it is George Michael.
“I suppose they sold as quickly as we would have expected for a singer of his stature.”
The concert promoter, Dan Marshall said: “These have been the fastest sale of tickets in the 30 years that we have been promoting shows.”
Michael revealed plans to have a civil partnership and jokingly blamed his recent troubles on Sir Elton John, in an interview with Michael Parkinson last weekend.
The singer will play 14 dates around the UK in November and December 2006.
