Gay icon divorcing again
Just one day after popping up on The Late Show with David Letterman to show off her trim new figure and short blonde bob, a reinvented Britney Spears dropped another bomb-she’s divorcing hubby Kevin Federline.
According to reports from CNN, the pop singer filed legal papers yesterday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” and is asking for legal and physical custody of their two children, 1-year-old Sean Preston and 2-month-old Jayden James.
Spears married her former backup dancer in October, 2004, less that a year after she married childhood friend Jason Alexander in a late night Vegas wedding. That marriage was later annulled after 55 hours.
Federline, 28, has two children from a previous relationship with Moesha actress Shar Jackson. The second child was born just two months before he and Spears tied the knot.
The Spears-Federline marriage has been plagued by rumours almost from the start, painting Federline as a philandering house-husband with no visible means of support and Spears the snowed wife.
According to media reports, the couple have separated at least once before when Spears took up residence in a Los Angeles hotel for a couple of weeks last year. The couple has not been seen in public together since the birth of their second child in September.
Federline dropped his rap album Playing With Fire on Halloween to mostly negative reviews. The album has yet to chart on Billboard’s Hot 200.
