Gay talent shines at Emmy Awards
Last night’s International Emmy Awards were dominated by British and gay orientated talent.
Gay comedian Matt Lucas picked up an award along with co-star David Walliams for Little Britain, and lesbian drama Sugar Rush picked up an accolade.
Little Britain won the Best Comedy Award while Sugar Rush, which won Broadcast of the Year at the UK Stonewall Awards earlier this month, won Best Children and Young People’s Programme.
The 34th INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARDS were held at the New York Hilton, hosted by Graham Norton.
A cast of international stars including Katie Couric, Susan Sarandon, Christiane Amanpour, Rosie Perez, Roger Bart, Julianne Nicholson and Lorenzo Lamas presented the International Emmy statue to the winners.
Other British winners included Ray Winstone for ITV1’s Vincent.
The International Emmy Founders Award was presented to Steven Spielberg, for his outstanding television career and films.
“The Academy is proud to be the international television community’s platform for recognising excellence in television programming worldwide,” said Academy President CEO Bruce Paisner.
