Big Brother announces audition dates
Yep, it’s that time already, Big Brother 8 auditions are on their way!
Big Brother is back and the call for contestants can only mean one thing… Channel 4 will be holding open auditions for the show around the UK Ireland.
So, for anyone out there who thinks that they can bring something extra special to the house, it’s their time to turn up and show us why.
The auditions kick off early next year and the first stop on the audition trail will be Glasgow, followed by Cardiff, Newcastle, Birmingham, Dublin, Manchester and London.
Out of the thousands who turn up, Big Brother will need to see what makes that one person stand out from the throng.
Anyone lucky enough to be selected will go through to the next stage where they will meet the Big Brother producers, and go all out to impress. This is where they’ll need to convey just why the nation would want to tune into them over the summer.
All applicants must be aged over 18 in the summer of 2007 and available to take part all summer 2007.
Those turning up to audition will be required to take photo ID (such as a passport or driving license) as proof of age and identity. No ID, no entry. Applicants are advised to wrap up warm and bring something to eat and drink, as it could be a long day.
This summer’s Big Brother 7 final, which saw Pete win the £100,000 prize, attracted 8.2 million viewers – a 45.6% share of those viewing television at the time – ranking it as one of the top performing finals. A total of 1.2 million pounds was raised for charity from voting throughout the series.
Celebrity Big Brother also proved a ratings hit this January, becoming one of the most talked about programmes of 2006 as viewers followed the antics of George Galloway MP, entertainer Michael Barrymore and 80’s pop diva Pete Burns in the celebrity household.
A peak audience of 7.5 million viewers watched as non celebrity Chantelle gained official celebrity status by winning the series.
Big Brother 7 attracted an average audience of 4.7 million viewers, up on the previous series which delivered an average 4.5 million.
