BA airline sorry to gay couple for blanket incident
A gay couple who were covered with a blanket by an airline stewardess because they were hugging have received an apology.
South African carrier Comair run British Airways services in that country and is an affiliate member of the Oneworld airline.
They had been threatened with legal action by the couple.
Jamie Robertson, a businessman from the UK, and his partner Francois van Tonder, were on a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg earlier this month when the incident occured.
The couple complained of sexual discrimination to the country’s Human Rights Commission.
They said they were offended by the actions of the stewardess.
Comair joint CEO Gidon Novick said: “we’re in contact and talking about how we can help (Robertson) in future,” reports iol.oc.za
The couple have received an apology and the airline said they regard the matter as closed.
