Singer raises £1,000 for charity
Singer Will Young has turned designer by creating his own deckchair, which sold for £1,000 in a charity auction this week.
The deckchair is a multi-coloured design with the worlds “The leaves are brown and the sky is gay” emblazoned across.
The chair was designed for the Deckchair Dreams campaign, in order to raise money for London’s Royal Parks.
The money raised by the chair will go towards the care of thousands of trees.
Will Young said: “I love London’s parks. They are such relaxing places to be and I have always loved the deckchairs, especially in Hyde Park.
“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to design a deckchair, whilst helping to raise funds for such a worthy cause.”
Deckchair Dreams encouraged 23 artists and celebrities to think about the trees of the Royal Parks and the wildlife they support when designing their chairs, which will replace the traditional green and white designs in several Royal Parks from next week until October.
