Sarah Palin a “media-obsessed homophobe” says Lohan
The Republican party nominee for Vice President of the United States has been criticised by actress Lindsay Lohan and the woman presumed to be her girlfriend.
Ms Lohan and Samantha Ronson, a DJ, released a joint statement online that stated:
“I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.
“I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States only four years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor, which is probably all she is qualified to be.”
Lohan also attacked the candidate’s views on sexuality: “Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?
“Is our country so divided that the Republicans’ best hope is a narrow-minded, media-obsessed homophobe?”
Ms Lohan has been romantically linked with Ms Ronson, sister of producer Mark Ronson, though her publicist has previously denied that they are in a relationship.
The two have been friends for years and it is said they got exceptionally close during Lohan’s stint at rehab last year.
Governor Palin’s nomination as Senator John McCain’s running mate was welcomed by conservatives.
She opposes gay marriage and abortion and supports the teaching of intelligent design alongside evolution.
