South African schoolboys in defamation case after creating gay picture of teachers
Three schoolboys in Waterkloof, South Africa have appeared before the Pretoria High Court in a civil trial after creating a pornographic picture of their former vice principal.
Dr Louis Dey, former vice principal of Waterkloof Hoerskool, claimed that the picture Hennie Le Roux, Christian Gildenhuys and Reinhard Hanse created of him was defaming and belittling, and is suing for R600,000 (£39,279).
Mr Le Roux said that he created the picture by using a picture of two masturbating men taken from a gay bodybuilder website and pasting the faces of Dr Dey and the school’s principal Dr Christo Becker into the picture.
The picture was later distributed amongst students through text and school notice boards.
All three of the students claimed that the picture was only meant as a joke, and that they were not trying to insinuate that either of the teachers is gay.
The trial continues.
