Deputy Commons leader to speak at gay networking event
The newest gay member of the goverment will be answering questions at the next Village Politics event.
Chris Bryant was promoted by Gordon Brown last year, his first ministerial job after 11 years as a Labour MP.
He is Deputy Leader of the House of Commons, responsible for the business of the House.
Earlier this month Mr Bryant chose to give his first interivew with the gay press to fashion magazine Attitude.
He revealed that he met his current boyfriend, Jared, while out campaigning in Soho with then-Mayor of London Ken Livingstone last April.
The couple are planning to move in together.
In 2003 the tabloid press published pictures of Mr Bryant posing in his underwear, which they procured from his Gaydar profile, alongside transcripts of sexually explicit messages he sent to other site users.
In his interview with Attitude he described the experience as “very, very, very, very unpleasant.”
Village Politics said Mr Bryant “will be speaking exclusively to our group on these and other issues, as well as taking questions from members,” at the event on February 24th.
Places are strictly limited and only available on to Village Drinks members on a first-come basis.
