Leading gay hotel evacuated after leaking sewers posed health and safety risk
One of Gran Canaria’s biggest gay hotels has been forced to move, disrupting British LGBT holiday makers. The company blames leaking sewers for the move and has released graphic photographs showing excrement spurting out of the floor.
Club Tucanes billed as a luxury gay holiday destination today claimed it had been forced to vacate its premises following court action on health and safety grounds.
PinkPaper claims that the legal action was taken as a result of unpaid rent but PinkNews.co.uk was unable to verify these claims. Gabriele Neroni of Club Tucanes said: “unfortunately our landlord has continually refused to invest in maintaining the basic infrastructure of sewage, electricity supply and damp proofing in the complex.
“Despite all our best efforts to secure a response from the landlord to deal with the problems, last Friday the sewage infrastructure structure deteriorated to a point that we were no longer in a position to guarantee the health and safety of our customers and were left with no other option but to vacate the resort at very short notice.”
Mr Neroni released photographs to the media with the message “yes the ‘brown stuff” is exactly what you think it is.”
PinkNews.co.uk has been unable to locate the landlord of the premises for comment.
Club Tucanes has relocated its residents and has offered them a refund in compensation. The company says that it will re-open in a new location in a months time.
