Six years for attempted killing of ‘bisexual transvestite’
A 27-year-old who stabbed a bisexual man after his girlfriend discoved them “play fighting” and accused him of being gay has been sentenced to six years in prison.
On October 30th 2008 Scott Mackenzie, from Inverness, and his girlfriend Louisa Chisholm had spent the day drinking with his victim, William Wood, 24, who was described in court as a “bisexual transvestite.”
They returned to Mackenzie’s flat where Chisholm fell asleep and the two men began to discuss Mr Wood’s sexuality.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lord Brodie said he accepted that Mr Wood had tried to engage Mackenzie in sexual activity but his advances were rejected.
The two men began to “play fight” and Chisholm woke up and accused her boyfriend of being gay.
Mackenzie then went to the kitchen, got two knives and repeatedly stabbed his victim.
“Police arrived at Mackenzie’s flat in Inverness to find victim Mr Wood kneeling on the floor covered in blood with his attacker standing behind him holding a knife to his throat,” according to Highland News.
“Officers managed to persuade the knife attacker to drop the weapon before they restrained him.”
The court was told that Mr Wood was “in the process of obtaining gender reassignment,” and was wearing female attire on the day in question.
He had “undressed down to a pair of satin pants” when he made a pass at Mackenzie.
Mr Wood has been left with scars to his neck.
