Anti-gay Miss California may be stripped of her title later today
Miss Calfornia, Carrie Prejean could be stripped of her title later today. The decision follows the allegedly homophobic comments made by Miss Prejean about gay marriage.
Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe Orgnaisation that runs the contest is due to hold a press conference later today.
During last month’s Miss America contest, Miss Prejean had been asked by blogger Perez Hilton for her thoughts on gay marriage. She replied: “I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”
She was booed and went on to loose the contest. It later emerged that despite her apparently strict Christian views, she had posed for topless photographs.
Officials at Miss California say it’s not in their power to strip her of her Miss California status but have appointed the pageant’s runner up, Tammi Farrell, to fulfil the duties the winner would normally handle.
Alan Duncan, the openly gay British Conservative Shadow Leader of the House of Commons last month called Miss Prejean a “silly bitch! I don’t agree with her at all.”
A few minutes later joked on the BBC news quiz Have I Got News for You: “If you read that Miss California has been murdered, you will know it was me, won’t you?”
