London Pride Run to be held in two weeks
Former mayoral candidate Brian Paddick is to fire the starter gun at this year’s London Pride Run.
The event, organised by gay running group London Frontrunners, will raise money for the London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard.
It is open to everyone and is anticipated to be the biggest event yet, with over a thousand participants.
Paddick is set to start the race, run and then hand out prizes at the end.
Participants will complete three laps of Victoria Park , totalling ten kilometres.
Paddick said: “It’s great to be supporting this race where everyone whatever their ability has the chance to get out and run together – even I’m having a go! At the same time we’re raising money for a really worthwhile cause.”
Colin Stevenson from London Frontrunners said: “The event just gets bigger and better and we’re delighted that Brian’s agreed to both start and run the race this year. We’re always determined to make this a relaxed and fun event for everybody and we look forward to welcoming the runners, their families and friends to Victoria Park.”
The race begins at 11am on Saturday August 15th.
