New York gay man in coma after ‘hate crime’ beating
A gay man is currently in a medically-induced coma after being attacked by two men in the street in New York.
Police believe the attack on Jack Price, 49, was a homophobic hate crime as the two men shouted anti-gay slurs as they beat him.
The assault happened on Friday at around 3am as Price left a corner deli in the Queens neighbourhood of College Point.
Price’s condition is described as serious but stable.
Associated Press reports that one man, Daniel Aleman, 26, was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault and aggravated assault as a hate crime.
Police are seeking a second suspect.
