Lesbian Vampire Killers ‘biggest movie flop of 2009’
A poll of 20,000 people has rated Lesbian Vampire Killers the worst movie of 2009.
The comedy-horror film by Gavin and Stacey stars James Corden and Matthew Horne, was almost universally panned for its lads mag humour and “moronic” script.
It features the duo as a pair of friends trapped in a village and surrounded by lesbian vampires.
National newspaper reviewers called it “profoundly awful” and “desperately unfunny”, with one kinder critic calling it “slapdash”. Only the Sun found something to laugh at, describing it as “brilliantly deadpan”.
Last year, an online group named Angry Lesbians voiced its anger at the film, calling it “stereotypical” and “derogatory”.
Love Film subscribers voted Miley Cyrus’s Hannah Montana: The Movie as the second-worst film.
Jennifer Aniston’s film Marley & Me and Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno, which featured a gay fashion journalist, were also in the bottom ten.
The top-rated films were the latest Star Trek film, Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler.
