Lesbian Glee star Jane Lynch marries
Jane Lynch has married her partner Lara Embry in a ceremony in Massachusetts.
The actress, who plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in Glee, tied the knot with Embry in front of 18 of their friends and family on Monday.
According to reports, they chose Massachusetts for their wedding because it was the first US state to legalise gay marriage and Embry, a psychologist, had studied there.
The couple held their wedding and reception at the Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland, where guests ate duck, sea bass and a vanilla cake.
Restaurant owner Deborah Snow and her wife Barbara White watched the ceremony.
Ms Snow told RadarOnline.com: “They’re both extremely warm-hearted, down-to-earth women.
“Jane, with all her star power these days, is probably one of the pleasantest stars I’ve met, she’s just really sweet.”
Lynch, 49, said recently she felt unable to come out to her family until she was in her thirties.
“Being gay was the last thing in the world that I wanted to be. I’m one of those people who like to toe the line – I’m not a rebel, ” she said.
“I just want to be like everyone else most of the time.”
Her new wife was involved in a high-profile same-sex custody lawsuit in Florida last year, for which she won the National Centre For Lesbian Rights’ Justice Award.
