Australian film festival bans gay zombie porn film
An Australian film festival has banned a film about gay zombies engaging in necrophilia.
LA Zombie, a film made by Canadian director Bruce LaBruce, is the first film to be banned from Melbourne International Film Festival in seven years.
It features “wound penetration” and shows an alien zombie roaming the streets of Los Angeles looking for gay people and corpses to have sex with.
It also includes full-frontal nudity.
Australia’s Film Classification Board wrote to festival director Richard Moore on Monday to advise him that the film would be refused classification and would not be able to be shown.
Mr Moore told ABC News that the film was “art”, adding: “Bruce LaBruce’s blend of sex and violence can be confronting, but I would argue that within the context of the festival, it is nonsensical and patronising to not allow people to decide what they want to see.”
LA Zombie will have its world premiere next week in Locarno, Switzerland.
