Gay icon and rugby star Ben Cohen supports Gay Sports Day
England rugby union star and gay icon Ben Cohen has given his support to this year’s Gay Sports Day.
The day, organised by GMFA, the gay men’s health charity, and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, will be held in London on August 30th.
Events will include the drag relay, the handbag throw and the 50m mince.
Cohen said: “I am happy to support this year’s GMFA/RVT Gay Sports Day. Sport is an important part of my life and it’s great to see a community come together and enjoy sport in such a fun and accessible way. Plus it raises vital funds for the important work carried out by GMFA and the other charities which will benefit from the day.
“I would encourage everyone to form a team and take part or show your appreciation by making a donation on the day. I will personally be donating items that will be part of an auction at the end of the event. Best of luck to all the competitors and have a fantastic day.”
GMFA says the money raised will go towards helping its charity work with gay men, which includes sexual health, general wellbeing, and self-esteem.
Money will also go to two organisations that help look after the local Vauxhall community – Vauxhall City Farm and The Friends of Spring Gardens.

The event will start at 1pm in Spring Gardens, Vauxhall (behind the Royal Vauxhall Tavern).
