Village Drinks to celebrate fifth birthday on Friday
The UK’s leading social community for gays and lesbians, Village Drinks, is to celebrate its fifth birthday in London this Friday, at a huge rooftop summer party at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
With entertainment from Danny D; Butlers in the Buff and live magicians, the organisers are already reporting it as a sold-out event.
Village Drinks, which now boasts over 15,000 members, was founded in 2005 by former civil servant, Neil Spring, as a social networking alternative for like-minded professionals. The event this week for its members and their guests, will mark the organisation’s fifth birthday.
“We’ve been completely bowled over with the support from everyone for this event,” Mr Spring told PinkNews.co.uk. “Village Drinks exists to connect like-minded gay people everywhere, in a relaxed and intimate surrounding. We love organising these events as much as people like attending them, and that makes the whole thing very worthwhile indeed.”
The organisers are hosting a charity raffle, with proceeds to be donated to Stonewall. Paddy O’ Connell from the BBC, and other celebrity guests are due to attend. Raffle prizes will include a free holiday in Gran Canaria courtesy of mantrav international; a year’s free membership at gymbox, and tickets to the premiere of the film The Wildest Dream, starring Liam Neeson.
