Sarah Palin’s retweet hints at gay support
Sarah Palin has given a hint of support for gay rights after retweeting a Twitter message by a lesbian conservative commentator.
Radio host Tammy Bruce, who describes herself as a “gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, Tea Party Independent Conservative”, tweeted yesterday about homophobic videos made by a US Navy captain.
The message, which Palin retweeted, said: “But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf already–the more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed.”
Palin, a staunch Republican, has never commented on the gay military ban and her representatives have not commented on the retweet.
But Bruce said the reposting of the message showed that the former Alaska governor was a “decent woman & friend to the community”.
Bruce also hit back at tweeters who criticised her for using the term ‘homo’, saying: “I call ‘them’ [homos] as one of them–and it’s quite reserved considered what Teh Gheys usually call each other!”
She added on her blog: “What do liberals do who refuse to accept that Palin is a decent woman who is not a homophobe? They pull out the faux outrage over her retweeting my tweet because I use the word ‘homos’.
“Heh. You keep at it LibProgs, you get your panties all twisted over a word while we save the country. You’re welcome.”
Last month, Palin’s 16-year-old daughter Willow was criticised for using the anti-gay slur ‘faggot’ against a Facebook user who criticised her mother.
