Video: God Hates Fags demo leads to $50,000 donation to gay AIDS charity
A leading American comedienne known as ‘the Queen of Mean’, Lisa Lampanelli, has donated $50,000 to a gay AIDS charity in the name of the Westboro Baptist Church, home of the ‘God Hates Fags’ campaign.
Lampanelli, well known for her pro-gay rights standing is branded a “fag enabler” by the Westboro Baptist Church and told journalists that she would donate $1,000 to the Gay Mens Health Crisis charity for every member of the church who attended a protest against her show in Topeka, Kansas.
48 people, many of them children turned up to the demonstration complete with their usual placards declaring declaring that “God hates fags” and that “Fags are beasts” as well as “the Jews killed Jesus” (Lampanelli is not Jewish).
After the show, Lampanelli tweeted that she’d round up the donation, writing: “I won’t quibble. I’ll make it an even $50,000!!!”
The church protests at the funerals of US service men and women because it claims the death of soldiers is a sign of God’s wrath against homosexuality, is best known for picketing troops’ funerals with the chant ‘God Hates Fags’.
It continues to dominate headlines by upsetting mourners and condemning people with AIDS and its antics have resulted in members being barred from entering the UK.
