Google celebrates LGBT pride with a gay rights rainbow on results
Google has continued its now annual tradition of celebrating LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) pride on certain results during what is termed “pride month.”
Mid June sees the start of the LGBT pride events across the globe and now when users search for keywords including”gay,” “lesbian,” “transgender,” “LGBT,” “homosexuality” and others a rainbow is wrapped around the search bar.
Last week, Google sponsored a float for openly gay religious Jews at Tel Aviv Pride. Google employees have a presence at many prides across the globe.
Back in 2009, Google explained to PinkNews.co.uk why it changes its search results design during the pride season. “We enjoy celebrating holidays and special events at Google. As you may imagine, it’s difficult for us to choose which events to celebrate on our site, and [we] have a long list of those we’d like to celebrate in the future.”
