Will Boris Johnson lead London Pride again?
He led London Pride last year but with an election coming up in 2012, will Boris Johnson lead the parade again next Saturday?
PinkNews.co.uk understands that Pride organisers are keen for the mayor to take his place at the head of the march but City Hall has not yet given the go-ahead.
A City Hall spokesman said details of the mayor’s diary had not yet been released.
This could be good news for Labour rival Ken Livingstone, who has always been keen to show his LGBT support.
A spokesman for Mr Livingstone said he was “looking forward” to joining the event at some point during the day but had not received any invitation from organisers to lead the event.
Last year, Mr Johnson scrapped City Hall’s annual Pride reception, saying he wanted to hold events that were specific to certain groups. Mr Livingstone has promised to bring the receptions back if elected next year.
Pride 2011’s theme is ‘Carnival of Love’ and marchers will leave Portland Place at around 1.15pm, passing along Regent Street and Pall Mall before arriving at Trafalgar Square.
Revellers can enjoy music at several stages, while after-parties will be held in Soho.
