Video: True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård films ‘It Gets Better’ clip
True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård has filmed an ‘It Gets Better’ video for LGBT young people.
In the sombre clip, the Swedish actor, 34, urges parents to teach their children that homophobic bullying and discrimination are unacceptable.
He says: “We have to teach our children, not only by our words but by our actions, that every human being has equal value and to bully someone or for society to discriminate against someone because they have a different sexual orientation is unacceptable.
“I don’t have any children yet but the day I do, I will make sure that they – before they can walk, before they can even crawl – know how important that is. And I hope you do the same. It gets better.”
Skarsgård, who plays vampire Eric Northman in True Blood, is one of many stars who have filmed a public service announcement for the project, which was started by gay journalist Dan Savage.
True Blood has been praised for its portrayal of LGBT characters.
