George Michael reveals more about gay album
George Michael recently revealed he plans to record an album with a ‘gay collective’ to make up for “letting gay kids down”.
Now, the singer has given more details and says the dance record will be “pretty stunning”.
He told NME: “For this album I’m going to be working with either gay or gay-friendly artists, and it’ll be a mixture of tracks sung by me and others by great young gay artists – possibly unknown ones. And I’ve lined up some really great dance producers to work on it too, so it’ll be a pretty stunning record.”
Michael added: “I’ll be 48 when the album comes out, but I have to say that gay men’s relationship with dance music probably doesn’t end at the same time as straight people’s does.”
The singer announced in May that he wanted to make amends to the gay young people he’s let down over the years.
He said that gay children had to witness the “homophobia” directed towards him every time he slipped up and added that his controversies had prevented him from defending the rights of LGBT youngsters.
Michael has been arrested twice for outdoor sex and convicted for drug and driving offences. Last year, he spent four months in prison after crashing his car while under the influence of cannabis.
