Video: Foo Fighters play ‘gay love song’ to God Hates Fags church
The Foo Fighters found an unusual way to hit back at anti-gay protesters picketing their gig at the weekend – by performing a ‘gay love song’ for them.
The homophobic Westboro Baptist Church, known for its chants of ‘God hates fags’, protested the band’s Kansas City gig, claiming that the song Keep it Clean (Hot Buns) encourages “fornication” and “fags”.
In response, the band held a surprise gig outside the venue. Rolling up on a flat-bed truck, the band, who were in fancy dress, peformed the song.
Lyrics include: “Driving all night, got a hankering for something. Think I’m in the mood for some hot man muffins/ Mmmm, sounds so fine, yes indeed.”
Singer Dave Grohl told the crowd: “I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds!
“Men loving women, and women loving men, and men loving men, and women loving women… you all know we like to watch that. But what I’d like to say is, God bless America, y’all!”
