Wrestler Hulk Hogan suing ex-wife for claiming he had a gay affair
Wrestler Hulk Hogan is to sue his former wife for defamation after she used a radio interview to promote her autobiography to claim that her ex-husband had a gay relationship with fellow WWE star Brutus Beefcake.
According to the St Petersburg Times, the wrestler, real name Terry Bollea filed an 18-page lawsuit in Clearwater, Florida accusing his ex wife of defamation.
In her memoir, Wrestling the Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes, Linda Bollea claims she was the victim of harrowing physical, mental and emotional abuse during her 24 year marriage to the star.
“[Hulk] tore my clothes, threw lamps, and held me down on the bed with his hands around my throat during arguments,” wrote Ms Bollea “I was always afraid he would kill me in one of his rages.”
During radio interviews, she claimed that her ex-husband, who recently remarried engaged in a long-term gay relationship with fellow wrestler, Brutus Beefcake.
In the law suit, Mr Bollea [Hulk Hogan] claimed that his ex-wife’s comments have “exposed him to distrust, hatred, contempt and ridicule exposed him to distrust, hatred, contempt and ridicule.” The documents claim that the allegations have hurt his occupation and business.
“Ms Bollea’s made enough of these outrageous allegations that it’s time they stop,” his attorney Will Florin said. “The only realistic way of making them stop is through the court system.”
Ms Bollea won 70 per cent of the couple’s assets during the divorce proceedings. The star married Jennifer McDaniel a year ago.
