Robin Williams says his “very modern” dog has a boyfriend
In a recent interview, comedian and actor Robin Williams has claimed his pug dog is gay and has a boyfriend, and that the pair would like to adopt a cat.
The 60-year-old, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1997, said he had a “very modern” family life.
Talking to the Irish Independent, he said: “I also have a gay rescue pug called Leonard. He has a boyfriend and they are planning to adopt a Siamese kitten together. We’re very modern.”
Williams, who recently married for the third time, was in London with his 22-year-old actress daughter, Zelda.
They were marking the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda video game franchise, after which his daughter is named, and have appeared in advertisements for the Nintendo game this year.
He added: “I plan on being a sweet, forgetful, ‘Oh God, where’s the baby? What have I done with the baby?’ sort of grandfather.
Williams has denied gay rumours in the past.
In 2006, he told GQ magazine: “There are many websites that’ll go, ‘Oh, he’s gay, I know he’s gay.’ Even our chef, who’s gay, was at a gay ski lodge, and some guy came up to him and said, ‘Robin Williams is gay.’ He goes, ‘No, he isn’t.’ ‘Oh, I know he is… I know people who’ve been with him.’
“They should tell me, because I don’t remember.”
