Gay actor Charlie Condou announces birth of son
Charlie Condou has announced the birth of his second child, a boy, on Wednesday.
The gay Coronation Street actor and columnist wrote on Twitter: “Happy Birthday Hal Condou”.
In response to well-wishers, he added: “Thanks for all your messages. Obviously I don’t know him very well yet, but he seems like a lovely bloke #HalCondou.”
The actor, whose character Marcus Dent is also gay, was announced in July to be expecting another baby with his friend, Catherine Kanter, who is the mother of his two-year-old daughter Georgia Mae.
Condou lives in Islington with his Canadian boyfriend of six years, Dr Cameron Laux.
Their daughter spends half her time with the couple and half with her mother.
Condou writes a popular Guardian column about life in the three-parent family.
In the latest edition, he discusses spending most of his and Laux’s time at Kanter’s house with the new baby, writing “we also might take Georgia to our place sometimes to give Catherine some time alone with the new baby – or we might take him off for a bit of “daddy-time” and let Catherine and Georgia do some baby-free snuggling”.
