Qrushr date attacker convicted of attempted murder
A 21 year old student was convicted of attempted murder earlier this week after stabbing and bludgeoning a man he met on mobile phone ‘app,’ Qrushr.
Clifford David, a 21 year old IT student stabbed 42-year-old teacher Chris Telford with a kitchen knife, before bludgeoning him with a hammer and biting him on the forehead.
David also screamed: “You killed my mother. Shut up and die” whilst holding down Mr Telford.
A jury at Southwark Crown Court heard how David had “unusually” smoked three cigarettes “in quick succession” while Telford, of Kilburn, poured him a whiskey and coke.
David reportedly kissed Mr Telford and then went to the kitchen to pour another drink.
Prosecutor Peter Clement, said David’s visit on the 15th February 2011, was out of the blue.
Mr Clement said: “He armed himself with one of Chris Telford’s kitchen knives, indicative of a plan or contemplation, as to what he was about to do.”
After stabbing Telford in the chest, David used a hammer, which had been used to prop open a door, to hit Telford on the head, and then bit him on the forehead.
He was disturbed, and fled the premises when Telford’s neighbours, upon hearing his cries for help, broke down the door.
Nigerian born David, who lived in New Cross, had visited Telford’s studio flat several times since the pair met on the gay and bi dating app, Qrushr in summer 2010.
The two stopped contact with one another shortly after having a sexual encounter in December 2010.
When fleeing the blood-spattered scene, he left a rucksack, two mobile telephones, passport and jacket behind.
Clifford David has been remanded in custody and is to be sentenced on 16th March.
