Video: Beginners, Gaga and Glee in GLAAD nominations
The nominees for the 23rd annual GLAAD awards have been announced.
The awards are designed to honour the media for positive portrayals of LGBT people and issues.
GLAAD said: “By recognizing and honoring media for outstanding images of the LGBT community, the GLAAD Media Awards serve as a benchmark for the media industry and complement GLAAD’s work to bring LGBT images and stories to Americans.”
Glee gets a nomination for Outstanding Comedy series alongside the Modern Family.
Last year, the two series shared the award.
Lady Gaga was nominated for best music artist alongside Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma, Hunx and His Punx and MEN.
Chaz Bono’s appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, along with Zach Wahls on the Ellen Degeneres Show are in the running for Outstanding Talk Show Episode.
There are also awards for best blog, best news and magazine articles, best piece of TV journalism and best film, for which Beginners is nominated.
Christopher Plummer won a Golden Globe for his role as a gay father who comes out late in life in the picture, but will have to beat new releases J Edgar and Albert Nobbs, in which Glenn Close plays a woman forced to dress as a man to secure work in 19th century Ireland.
Ceremonies will be held in New York on March 24; Los Angeles on April 21; and San Francisco on June 2.
