The infamous Westboro Baptist Church picketed a Radiohead concert in Kansas City, Missouri yesterday with trademark placards reading ‘God Hates Fags’ and others questioning the band’s song-writing abilities.

The multiple Grammy-winning British outfit were labelled “freak monkeys with mediocre tunes” by the fundamentalist group, which commonly pickets memorials for deceased soldiers.

It said: ā€œGod is undoing this nation and effecting all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event.ā€

In 2010, Lady Gaga called members of the Westboro Baptist Church ā€œhate criminalsā€ when she played a concert in St Louis, Missouri that was also picketed by the controversial church.

Members stood outside that venue holding signs that said ā€œGod hates Lady Gagaā€ in protest at her ā€œpromotionā€ of homosexuality.

Producer Nigel Godrich tweeted of the demonstration: “Highlight of the tour so far… Being picketed by westboro baptist church this evening.. Hoorah!”

In May last year, US comedian and ā€˜Queen of Meanā€™ Lisa Lampanelli donated $50,000 to a gay AIDS charity in the name of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Lampanelli was branded a ā€œfag enablerā€ by the Church and said she would donate $1,000 to the Gay Mens Health Crisis charity for every member who attended a protest against her show in Topeka, Kansas.

48 people, many of them children, turned up to protest and after the show, Lampanelli tweeted that sheā€™d round up the donation, writing: ā€œI wonā€™t quibble. Iā€™ll make it an even $50,000!!!ā€
