Video: Coalition for Equal Marriage releases beautiful viral campaign film
A new independent short film produced to support the Coalition for Equal Marriage has been released to encourage support for the Government’s plans to lift the ban on civil marriage for same-sex couples in England and Wales.
Directed by award winning film-maker Mike Buonaiuto, the short film shows British forces returning home to their loved ones, with the reunion of one soldier and his partner soon turning into a surprise marriage proposal.
The film aims to tackle opposition with by arguing that if people can serve in British military regardless of sexuality, they should be able celebrate their love and commitment with civil marriage.
PinkNews.co.uk and other media companies have backed the making and distribution of the film. From today, PinkNews will dedicate advertising space to promote the film.
Writing on PinkNews.co.uk, director Mike Buonaiuto said: “One day I would like to marry my partner of almost 5 years. And the celebration of our commitment should mean no more or less than any other straight couple. I made the film to promote change and also inspire others to use their creativity to support equality.”
It has since grown into a strong group of individuals and organisations including PinkNews.co.uk coming together to support the government’s plans for greater equality.
The short film stars James Knight, from London’s West End and rising screen-star Lew Smart.
PinkNews.co.uk encourages readers to share the video with friends, to sign the Coalition For Equal Marriage petition at www.C4EM.org.uk and give your response to the Home Office’s public consultation on marriage equality.
