Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son joins up with Born This Way Foundation
The son of Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the ranks of supporters of Lady Gaga’s BornThis Way Foundation.
Patrick Schwarzenegger, the 18-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, made a public service announcement in conjunction with the Born This Way Foundation and their current collaboration with Office Depot, which allows students to purchase specialty items with anti-bullying messages, as reported on Entertainment Tonight.
Mr Schwarzenegger praised the underlying message of the foundation as one that “promotes bravery and acceptance.”
He said of Lady Gaga: “She was bullied and obviously some people were cruel and mean to her when she was growing up. But I think the world and society accepted who she was.
“And now her level of fame and success shows other kids that they can really be who they are.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger, during his tenure as governor of California, was praised for his evolving views on marriage equality and various LGBT rights issues.
Schwarzenegger publicly opposed Prop 8, the state’s voter-approved ban on marriage equality.
He also compared the LGBT rights struggle to his own struggles as a young bodybuilder, saying: “I learned that you should never ever give up. The [LGBT community] should never give up.
“They should be on it and on it until they get it done.”
