Hollywood star unveiled for Ellen DeGeneres
The US lesbian TV star has been honoured on Hollywood Boulevard in the traditional ceremony, her mother, Betty, and wife Portia De Rossi, were on hand to help her celebrate.
E! Online reports during her speech, the comedienne couldn’t resist cracking a few jokes, and told the crowd:
“I spent my entire career trying to conduct myself in a certain way making sure no one walks all over me only to get to a point where people are going to walk all over me.
Ellen added: “It means so much to me that everyone showed up.”
Earlier, the 54-year-old tweeted fans to jokingly ask whether they would be able to drop her home after the ceremony.
“I’m getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today at 11am. Come watch me! Also, I’d love a ride home. 6270 Hollywood Blvd,” she wrote.
Ellen’s 82-year-old mother, Betty, is one of her biggest fans, and went on to become a gay rights activist after her daughter came out in 1997.
Celebrities including Ryan Seacrest and Jimmy Kimmel were also present at the event.
