Julian Clary emotional as crowned Celebrity Big Brother 2012 winner
Julian Clary, was stuck for words as he was pronounced the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, 2012, at the live final last night.
The gay actor and comedian, 53, who had been favourite to win, sobbed as he told singer Colleen Nolan and host Brian Dowling: “I can hardly speak”, Now Magazine reported.
“It doesn’t happen very often, I’ve never won anything in my life. What is my mother going to say?”
Addressing the viewers who voted for him, he said:
“Thank you, you’ve made a fifty-three year old homosexual very happy.”
Mr Clary said he tried to keep out of trouble when there were spats in the house:
“I don’t like it when people get snappy,” he said, “my mission is always to keep the peace so I didn’t join in.”
He beat Collen Nolan, former, Loose Women, presenter, who came second, and Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp, who, despite being second favourite, came third.
During his time in the house, Mr Clary was subject to homophobic abuse to his Twitter account, according to Unreality TV. Derogatory words including “freak”, “faggot” and “arse bandit” were posted by trolls to his official Twitter account earlier this week.
