Hollywood director links incest with equal marriage
Although he may not have meant to offend the LGBT community,Ā director Nick Cassavetes has done just that after placing incest alongside marriage rights for gayĀ couples.
In an interview with the Wrap about his new movie, Yellow, which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last weekend,Ā Mr Cassavetes defended his filmās protagonist’s affair with her brother ā and of incest, said:
āWho gives a shit if people judge you?ā he continued. āIām not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if youāre not having kids ā who gives a damn? Love who you want. Isnāt that what we say?
āGay marriage ā love who you want?
He added:Ā āIf itās your brother or sister itās super-weird, but if you look at it, youāre not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because youāre in love with one another.ā
The remarks have caused anger with some urging a boycott of the directorās new movie.
His previous films include John Q, The Notebook and Alpha Dog.
