Video: Jesse Tyler Ferguson announces engagement to his boyfriend
Star of popular US TV series, Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, has announced that he is engaged to his boyfriend, and not only that, he has established a charity to advocate equal marriage for all.
In the video, whilst deliberating over which word to use to describe his boyfriend, Justin Mikita, co-founder of TieTheKnot, Mr Ferguson says “fiance”, followed by “that’s right, I popped the big Q.”
The video also announces TieTheKnot.Org, a group founded by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, to advocate fashion and equal marriage, carries the strap-line “Advocating for a More Stylish & Equal America.”
He said: “the definition of marriage cannot be disputed, it’s right there in black and white, and it’s been the same since the start of Wikipedia.
“We want our interpersonal relationship to be acknowledged in a union formalised via a wedding ceremony,”
“But we’re just like millions of Americans who are denied basic civil rights to marry the person that we love.”
The couple have teamed up with Tie Bar, a US tie and bow-tie company, to create bow-ties inspired by fashion, art amongst other things, the proceeds of which will go to will go to various LGBT advocacy groups.
A limited number of each bow tie, released in limited numbers “to inspire uniqueness and individuality” will be available from TieTheKnot.org from this November.
