Bret Easton Ellis defends Paris Hilton’s anti-gay remarks

Bret Easton Ellis, the author of American Psycho, says he agrees with Paris Hilton’s recent homophobic comments about gay men.

At the end of last week, the celebrity heiress was forced to apologise after she was secretly recorded making anti-gay remarks to a gay friend in the back of a taxis.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of September 7 while Hilton was in Manhattan for New York Fashion Week.

During the conversation, in which a man is heard logging on to gay dating app Grindr, Hilton said:

“Ewwww…gay guys are the horniest people in the world…they’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS…I would be so scared if I was a gay guy…you’ll like, die of AIDS.”

According to Digital Spy, Bret Easton Ellis has now taken to his Twitter account to defend Hilton’s initial comments.

He tweeted: “I kind of agree with Paris Hilton…As someone who has used Grindr Paris Hilton isn’t that far off.”

Ellis sparked outrage in August after he said it was “ludicrous” to cast gay actor Matt Bomer to play the straight male lead in the film adaptation of the sexually-explicit Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.
