Australian psychologist says ban gay sex, but no ‘poofter bashing’
A candidate who is seeking to get elected in New South Wales, Australia has called for gay sex to be outlawed and for the right to discriminate against LGBT citizens.
Philip Pocock is standing as an independent representative in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) around the city of Canberra.
He claims to be a psychologist of more than 30 years and in 2008 uploaded a You Tube video of himself defending the Popeās anti-gay doctrine,Ā arguingĀ that homosexuality resembled a threat to humanity as great as climate change.
In the video, Mr Pocock said the Pope was ācorrect, even from a scientific viewā.
He continued: āThe first step to dealing with the problem is to accept that despite genetically different levels of masculinity that are often visually evident, no one is a homosexual unless they practice homosexual acts, in the same way that no one is a bank robber unless they rob a bankā.
Along with criticising Australiaās political establishment for paying ālip serviceā to social conservatives Mr Pocock referred to gay people as āpervertsā.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Mr Pocock also wants to see ārulesā against sex before marriage, infidelity and divorce.
He recently told the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn that most politicians are either inadequate to enforce ālegitimate sexual expressionā or they are addicted to ādistortions of sexuality.ā
However, Mr Pocock stopped short of approving homophobic violence, saying that nobody had the right to engage in āpoofter bashingā.
Mr Pocock made his remarks inĀ response to a church questionnaire.
He also declared that āa true āunionā only occurs in heterosexual vaginal intercourse and homosexual unions not only deserve no special rights but must be seen as the destructive behaviours that should be actively discouraged.ā
