Manchester: Vigil for PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes
A vigil in memory of PC Fiona Bone, a lesbian police officer who was murdered in Greater Manchester along with her colleague PC Nicola Hughes, is taking place today.
PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes were killed in a gun and grenade attack in Mottram, Tameside, on Tuesday 18 September.
According to the BBC, Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said the vigil would be a chance to “pray for the dead officers and their families at a time of great need”.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police Federation said the organisation was intending to sell charity £1 wristbands in memory of the two officers.
He added that any money raised would be distributed to the families.
Dale Cregan, 29, has been charged with the officers’ murders, along with those of two other men.
