Anna Paquin: Bisexuality? ‘It’s just part of who I am’
In a new interview, actress Anna Paquin has addressedĀ confusion she has faced about her open bisexuality, and accusations that she is actually straight, because she is married to a man.
November’s issue of Red Magazine features an interview with Ms Paquin where she tackles some of the criticism, and confusion she faces over being openly bisexual, but married to her True Blood co-star, Stephen Moyer.
The, True Blood, star came out in 2010, and has spoken frequently about her bisexuality, but said that some people have a problem with the fact that she identifies as bisexual:
āSome people find it odd that you can identify with a sexual orientation that is not straight and yet be married to someone of the opposite sex. Theyāre like, āObviously itās not real if youāre married to a dude’ā.
“But thatās not my problem,Ā Iām like, okay, if thatās how you feel, thereās nothing I can do about it. Iām just living my life.ā
āI am a happily married woman and I married a man,ā she said,Ā āI donāt think that negates that aspect of my life, but obviously I wouldnāt be with my husband if I didnāt want to be married to a man.ā
āItās not like I had an āOh my Godā moment, itās just part of who I am,ā she said.
Ms Paquin had known she was bisexual since her teens, butĀ back in 2010, the True Blood actress recorded an ad for the the True Colors Fund, a non-profit organisation founded by Cyndi Lauper to support the LGBT community.Ā In it, she said: āIām bisexual and I give a damn.ā
āThere is a lot of prejudice against us but the more people talk about it, the less of a deal it will be.”
