HRC releases anti-Romney election video
With 3 days to go before the US 2012 Election Day, America’s largest LGBT advocacy group has released an advert that attacks Mitt Romney’s stance on gay rights.
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) says the Republican presidential hopeful and his running mate, Paul Ryan, represent a “devastating leap backwards for LGBT Americans seeking full equality”.
The advert features Mitt Romney’s previous appearance on Pier Morgan’s CNN chat show, where he memorably said: “The gay community changed their perspective as to what they wanted,” when quizzed on why he had become remarkably opposed to strengthening gay rights, during the course of his political career.
According to a poll by Logo TV, with the race between President Obama and Mr Romney still close, LGBT voters could have a huge impact on Tuesday’s Election Day.
Since August, President Obama has seen his support from LGBT voters increase.
Political commentators believe the focus by Republicans on socially conservative issues has helped energize a crucial chunk of President Obama’s base.
However, the overall race between the two men remains tight.
