A bar in the south west city of Bath is investigating claims that a doorman made anĀ anti-gay remark to customers.

The incident happened over the weekend at Belushiā€™s in Green Street.

According to the Bath Chronicle, a gay group of friends were on the receiving end of the abuse after deciding to go to another venue because not all of them had ID.

The group claims that they were thenĀ told ā€œThis isnā€™t a fucking homosexual bar anywayā€ as they were leaving.

Several people have now complained on the barā€™s Facebook page and have called for a boycott of the establishment.

In response, the manager of venue, Chris Fox, said:

ā€œWe take any allegation of homophobia very seriously and are currently investigating the situation.

ā€œIf we confirm that this is a case where a doorman made a homophobic comment to a member of the public, we will carry out a full disciplinary procedure. Belushiā€™s Bath has never and will never, tolerate homophobia.ā€
