New Zealand former MP: Labour Party is ‘controlled by homosexuals’
Disgraced former MP, Taito Phillip Field, has attacked leaders of New Zealand’s Labour Party, saying it has become too liberal, specifically criticising its support of equal marriage for same-sex couples.
Mr Field, who was an MP under Helen Clark’s government, said that government had “infested” the party with homosexuality, reported Stuff. He said:
“There is a perception that they are controlled by homosexuals. It’s like a smell that won’t go away.”
He said that the party had betrayed the Christian working class, and that its commitment to certain issues detracted from their attention to more important ones, saying that was the “death nail in the coffin of the Labour Party”.
“You are going to have a generation of children grow up who think it is OK to have two mums and two dads. This is a contradiction of the word of God,” he continued.
“I don’t know how long it will take for them to recover, if they can. I can’t see them getting back in 2014, or the election after.”
Despite being jailed for six years charged with 11 counts of bribery and corruption and 15 counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice, Mr Field still claims to be innocent, and that he was jailed for standing up to the government. He also compared himself to Nelson Mandella:
“It’s not uncommon for people to end up in my situation for standing up for what they believe in,” he said.
“Nobody wants to go to prison, but Mandela was imprisoned for 26 years. Who I am to complain?”
Taito Phillip Field was released from prison just over a year ago.
